About Us:

General Scanning Thermal Printers is a member of GSI Group, a publicly traded, worldwide manufacturer of enabling technology products and systems. Founded in 1967, General Scanning invented the first real-time thermal printer. The company continued to evolve this technology until it became the central printing engine technology of many medical and scientific applications around the world.

Respected around the world for reliability and versatility, General Scanning thermal array printers are used wherever clean, sharp, accurate data output is essential.

Small size, lightweight and low power consumption make these printers ideal for on-board integration in both portable and stationary instrument designs. Having set the operational benchmark in the medical industry, these General Scanning printers find broad acceptance by OEM’s thanks to outstanding performance in the following areas:

Quiet, Reliable Operation

General Scanning’s thermal printers are precision manufactured from high quality, durable materials. Operation is smooth, quiet and extremely reliable over the life of the printer.

Broad Product Selection for a Variety of Requirements

Standard thermal printers are available in 50mm, 58mm, 100mm and 200mm paper width formats. In addition, we work with OEMs to create custom configurations which can combine unique features and functions that enable a decisive competitive advantage.

Sharp, High Resolution Output

With output resolutions up to 800 dpi, these printers produce uniformly sharp, well-defined traces… an essential feature when recording multiple, overlapping curves. Thermal printing is clean, clear, and extremely reliable. Direct thermal printing requires no ink or ribbons - doesn’t spill, freeze or pollute the environment.

Versatile Output Formats

GSI thermal printers can output text in both vertical and horizontal orientation. They can produce bit-mapped graphics, and multiple, overlapping traces over simultaneously-printed, standard or user-defined background grids.

Easy Integration

Our Design Engineers and Applications Support Team provide full documentation and technical support to ensure your success. From concept development and prototype development through documentation and training, you can rely on General Scanning to provide the optimal thermal printer solution in volume.
